Michael Y. Seril is a nationally recognized figure in the world of fitness and exercise. In June 2006 Michael was recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as the 2006 Personal Trainer of the Year and in 2007 Michael received the Community Leadership Award from the President’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports. He holds a Masters Degree in Kinesiology - Exercise Physiology & a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology – Exercise Science from California State University – Northridge (CSUN). He is a former instructor of Weight Training and Fitness for Life courses at the CSUN department of Kinesiology. Locally, he is a contributing fitness writer, lecturer, and presenter for Bright Medical Associates and Whittier Presbyterian Hospital. Michael is the Founder/CEO of the Excellence through Exercise Foundation. He is also an Advisory Board member for Maximum Fitness magazine, Get America Fit Foundation, and Rio Hondo Community College Fitness Certificate Program.
Michael is the author/creator of “Personal Trainer’s Guide to Medical Referrals” & “Community Fitness Leader”. These two products teach fitness professionals all over the world how to become community fitness leaders in their own communities.

Tai Tran graduated from Cal State Univ. Northridge (CSUN) where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Exercise Science. Tai is attending California State University - Fullerton to pursue his Masters Degree in Kinesiology - Strength & Conditioning. During his years at CSUN, he has worked on internships for strength and conditioning at Oaks Christian High School. He has also been involved with the Wellness4You fitness program, the Fitness Centre in Northridge, and with preparations for an annual Half Dome climb in Yosemite. Tai has helped motivate students, staff, and faculty by giving presentations on weight management, Rockport testing, and strength training exercises for climbing the Half Dome. Tai also holds the following certifications as a fitness professional:
- CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
- NSCA-CPT (National Strength and Conditioning Association - Certified Personal Trainer)
- ACE-CPT (American Council on Exercise - Certified Personal Trainer)
With the valuable internship experiences he gained from CSUN, he believes that he can assist clients of different fitness backgrounds achieve their goals. Tai continues to improve his education and knowledge of the fitness industry by attending clinics, seminars, and reading research journals. He is excited to join the Michael Seril Fitness Team as the Strength & Conditioning Director and will also be holding Speed & Agility Camps for athletes in the community.
Tai will be working closely with Michael & Kimberly to monitor schools that will be funded through the Excellence through Exercise Foundation.

Kimberly graduated from Whittier College with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology (2007). She is an active member of the nationally recognized Phi Epsilon Kappa Honors society for students interested in pursuing a career in kinesiology, physical education, the medical field and other fields related to health and wellness. She is currently attending graduate school at California State University, Fullerton to pursue a Masters degree in Kinesiology. Kimberly’s primary goal with the Michael Seril Fitness, Inc. and Michael Seril Enterprise is to assist with research, publishing and public relations, including her role as Treasurer/Secretary with the Excellence through Exercise Foundation.
Eddie graduated from California State University - Long Beach with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Fitness and is now pursuing a Masters Degree in Clinical Exercise Science at California State University - Fullerton. Eddie is certified as a Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and has been a personal trainer since 2001. Eddie has helped several individuals with limitations such as high blood pressure and low back pain achieve their health and wellness goals. Eddie has been at Michael Seril Fitness Studio from the very start and looks forward to the further development of “Whittier’s only personal fitness studio trusted by medical professionals.”
- Eddie has worked extensively with various projects ranging from presenting fitness seminars, designing fitness websites and training at worksite exercise programs.
- Eddie is also a weight lifting instructor at California State University – Fullerton for more than one hundred college students
- Eddie’s training experience ranges far and wide from high school athletes to older adults with many orthopedic limitations.

Adina Cozma NASM-CPT joined the ranks of the Michael Seril Fitness Team as our first female personal trainer. She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), which is a nationally accredited association and one of the top five personal trainer certificates in the country. Adina is currently attending Fullerton College and will be transferring to California State University Fullerton next year to pursue her Bachelors degree in Kinesiology. Her passion, energy and willingness to help each of her clients makes Adina an unbelievable fitness professional. Adina works closely with Michael in various community outreach projects including her involvement with the Excellence through Exercise Foundation and Michael’s seminars throughout the community.

Matthew is committed to the expansion of Michael Seril Fitness, Inc. and looks forward to building a national-caliber reputation as a fitness professional. Currently he is a senior at California State University – Long Beach and is pursuing a Kinesiology Bachelors Science degree with an emphasis in Fitness. He is a Nationally Accredited American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer and has experience as a Strength & Conditioning Coach in both Coed Track & Field and Varsity Football and various special populations. Matthew’s involvement at Michael Seril Fitness Inc. also extends far beyond personal training:
- Coordinator of community fitness events
- Contributor to nationally published workouts and exercise programs
- Presenter of fitness seminars to the education community
- Designer of public and private exercise programs
- President of the Fitness Majors Association at California State University – Long Beach, where he presides over various community, public education and student fitness activities while increasing campus awareness of the fulfilling careers of fitness professionals.
She is a Registered Dietitian who earned her Bachelors degree in Dietetics with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology from University of California at Davis and completed her internship at Oregon Health Sciences University/VAMC in Portland. Janice has been a Certified Diabetes Educator for the past 14 years. This is a credential that only certain health professionals can earn after they have specialized in the care and education of people with diabetes. These professionals must also pass a proficiency exam and maintain continuous education units.
Janice has been employed for the past 18 years as a Registered Dietitian in a variety of medical settings including inpatient and outpatient. Her areas of expertise includes renal, diabetes, cardiac, infectious disease, cancer, weight control, sports nutrition and cholesterol. She is a life long runner and understands the connection between fitness and nutrition. Her experience as a Registered Dietitian allows her to provide you with the best meal plan for your personal goals and health concerns.
